Co-parenting as allies

Writer's picture: Darren RawlinsDarren Rawlins

Parents Ebony Roberts and Shaka Senghor separated when their son was three years old.

The journey that they decided to take as co-parents is inspirational. The love that they both have for their son over-rode their heartache, hurt and the fear that comes with trying to navigate their new roles as co-parents.

They choose to remember the best qualities of each other and support each other, by honouring their love for their son, and sharing the parenting workload. Through their journey they encountered struggles along the way, but they found their way and co-parent as allies not adversaries.

What Ebony and Shaka did was to choose to be on the same team, and that team is their son’s team.
